As unmanned aerial vehicles become more prevalent in the sky, so too is the likelihood of their crash.
Fortress UAV, a newly formed subsidiary of Plano-based Fortress Solutions, will be dedicated to drone repair.
According to businesses research firm, Gartner Inc. the production of unmanned aerial vehicles — better known as “drones” — is increasing rapidly, with almost 3 million drones expected to be produced in 2017.

Offering three facilities nationwide and more than 220 employees trained in drone repair, Fortress UAV is ready to become the largest, and most comprehensive, facility for drone repair in North America.
Fortress Solutions knows something about repair; the company opened in 2002 with a focus on electronics repair.
“We have been eyeing the expansion into drone repair and logistics and preparing for the launch of Fortress UAV for the better part of a year,” said Brendon Mills, president and CEO of Fortress UAV and Fortress Solutions.
He went on to say that the UAV repair services were “silently launched” in February 2017, with Fortress UAV’s official launch taking place in July.
The next step? To “aggressively expand our business to fulfill the critical repair and logistics needs for both enthusiasts and commercial operators alike,” Mills said.
Repair estimates are free, but require the user to send the UAV to the company for evaluation. Customers can follow the repair process through the Fortress UAV website portal.
