Blue Star Innovation Partners has made a substantial investment in The Gents Place, an upscale Dallas lifestyle club that offers men’s grooming and other services.

Blue Star is an investment venture for growth-stage companies founded by Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, the Jones family, and entrepreneur Rob Wechsler, Blue Star’s chairman.

The Gents Place offers men’s grooming services such as haircuts and shaves in an environment that combines the feel of an old-time speakeasy with that of a country club. Besides haircuts and shaves, the company offers massage and body services, shoe services, and skin services.

“The Gents Place is poised for enormous growth and, this year alone, we’ve already signed agreements to expand our footprint to five new cities across the U.S.”

“Male grooming is a $5-billion industry and growing every year as more men want to look and feel their most confident best,” The Gents Place Founder and President Ben Davis said in a release. “The Gents Place is poised for enormous growth and, this year alone, we’ve already signed agreements to expand our footprint to five new cities across the U.S.”

In North Texas, The Gents Place currently has lifestyle clubs in Dallas, Southlake, and Frisco. It also has locations in Chicago, and Leawood, Kansas.

More than 10 franchise locations are under development in Dallas, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and Chicago, the company said.

The amount of the investment from Blue Star was not disclosed. Jones said that Blue Star will be selective in its investments.

EMMITT SMITH IS A CO-OWNER OF THE GENTS PLACE

“Since forming Blue Star Innovation Partners in 2016, we’ve received over 700 applications from startup businesses and will hand-select a small number of companies with incredible growth potential to leverage our 30 years of business experience, resources, and contacts in the world of sports,” Jones said in a release. “Ben is a savvy entrepreneur who has aggressive plans to grow The Gents Place nationwide through the franchising model and we believe that given the right guidance and resources, he can achieve that goal.”

In 2016, Davis brought on former Cowboys Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith as a co-owner to help drive franchise growth. The company also received an investment from brand management and development company Elevated Brands.

Over the next five years, The Gents Place has plans to open 150 franchised locations with opportunities in such markets as Las Vegas, Atlanta, Miami, New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
