Wipro Limited, an India-based global information technology company, has officially opened the Pivotal Center of Excellence at its Plano office.
The new Center is in collaboration with Pivotal Software, Inc., a San Francisco-headquartered cloud-native platform provider. The strategic partnership aims to advance the innovation offerings the two companies provide their joint customers.
With the Center, Wipro intends to expand its already-large Dallas footprint by making local hires in cybersecurity, data analytics, and full-stack development. In coordination with the announcement, Wipro plans to expand its design services by opening a new Dallas Designit studio, where strategic design, service design and design thinking services are provided for clients around the world.
Wipro began expanding into Dallas back in 2017; it’s now one of the biggest markets.
Last year, Wipro opened a 45,000-square-foot cybersecurity center and hub for advanced analytics in Plano, the Texas Technology Center, as a sign of its growing operations in the state. The company also has a college-graduate program, Ascent, with most applicants coming from universities in the North Texas region.
The Center of Excellence is built on co-creation
Set to employ local high-tech workers, The Center of Excellence will be an innovation lab for both Wipro and Pivotal. It is the second Center to an existing one in Wipro’s home base of Bangalore, India. Additional Centers around the world are also in the works.
Together, the two companies said they can co-create new software solutions and digital transformation projects here in Dallas.
Wipro provides consulting and business process and IT solutions through technologies like cognitive computing, hyper-automation, robotics, and analytics. The intent is to help clients “adapt to the digital world and make them successful.”
Pivotal uses technology to help companies transform the way they build and run their software applications. The services are used by Global 2000 companies in order to “achieve strategic advantages in software development and IT operations.”
Rajan Kohli, president of digital at Wipro Limited, is excited for the new innovations the teams will create in the near future. “We also look forward to new team members joining us, as the Dallas area has proven to have access to talented people, capable of building next-generation solutions,” he said.
Wipro’s relationship with Pivotal—which operates through Wipro’s digital transformation arm, Wipro Digital—began when it joined Pivotal’s partner program in 2017, which was followed by a strategic partnership agreement in 2018. By March 2020, Wipro said Digital will have more than 2,000 trained workers supporting Pivotal’s solutions.
“Wipro Digital has a similar digitally-born culture which is a great fit for Pivotal and our joint customers,” Bill Cook, Pivotal’s president and COO, said in a statement. “Our initial projects have been very successful, and we look forward to many more ahead.”
