Law Firm: Dickinson Wright PLLC (6 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 14775940 on 03/14/2014 (1278 days app to issue)

Abstract: A novel method of fabricating carbon nanotube sheet scrolled fiber and fiber tows (carbon, graphite, glass, natural polymer, synthetic polymer, metallic, silicon carbide, Kevlar, etc.) in composites with improved interfacial shear strength, compressive strength, yield strength, stiffness and toughness has been reported. Single or multiple layers of carbon nanotube sheet, with a bias/wrapping angle of 0 and 90, has been scrolled around single fiber and fibers tows to improve the above mentioned mechanical properties of the matrix surrounding the fiber. Other common methods of growing CNTs directly on the fibers actually damage the fiber surface during the required precursor deposition and CNTs growth process. This demonstrated solid-state method overcomes such known problems. The CNTs sheet scrolled fiber is embedded into the polymer matrix exhibits significant (80%) increase in interfacial shear strength, compressive strength and toughness.

Degradable material time delay system and method
Patent No. 9759039

Inventor(s): John T Hardesty (Weatherford, TX)
Assignee(s): GEODYNAMICS, INC. (Millsap, TX)
Law Firm: Carstens Cahoon, LLP (Local)
Application No., Date, Speed: 15090963 on 04/05/2016 (525 days app to issue)

Abstract: A detonating restriction plug element and method in a wellbore casing. The element includes a hollow passage in the restriction plug element that receives a detonating assembly coupled to a mechanical restraining element, and a space for containing a reactive fluid. The mechanical restraining element undergoes a change in shape for a pre-determined time delay due to a chemical reaction when the reactive fluid in the space such as wellbore fluids comes in contact with the restraining element. A firing pin in the detonating assembly is released when the restraining elements changes shape and releases the restraint on the firing pin. The firing pin contacts a detonator in the detonating assembly and causes a detonating event such that the restriction plug element fragments.

Patent No. 9759042

Inventor(s): Liang Zhao (Plano, TX)

Law Firm: McGuireWoods (Local + 4252 other metros)
Application No., Date, Speed: 15012708 on 02/01/2016 (589 days app to issue)

Abstract: A downhole fluid flow control system and method includes a fluid control module having a main fluid pathway, a valve element and a pressure sensing module. The valve element has open and closed positions relative to the main fluid pathway to allow and prevent fluid flow therethrough. The pressure sensing module includes a secondary fluid pathway in parallel with the main fluid pathway having an upstream pressure sensing location and a downstream pressure sensing location with a cross sectional area transition region therebetween. In operation, the valve element moves between open and closed positions responsive to a pressure difference between pressure signals from the upstream and downstream pressure sensing locations. The pressure difference is dependent upon the change in cross sectional area and the viscosity of a fluid flowing through the secondary fluid pathway such that the viscosity is operable to control fluid flow through the main fluid pathway.

Law Firm: Vierra Magen Marcus LLP (1 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 15383852 on 12/19/2016 (267 days app to issue)

Abstract: A memory device and associated techniques for reducing read disturb of memory cells during the last phase of a sensing operation when all voltage signals are ramped down to a steady state voltage. In one aspect, the voltages of the source side word line, WL0, and an adjacent dummy word line, WLDS1, are ramped down after the voltages of remaining word lines are ramped down. This can occur regardless of whether WL0 is the selected word line which is programmed or read. The technique can be applied after the sensing which occurs in a read or program-verify operation. Another option involves elevating the voltage of the selected word line so that all word lines are ramped down from the same level, such as a read pass level. The techniques are particularly useful when the memory device includes an interface in the channel between epitaxial silicon and polysilicon.

Patent No. 9759861

Inventor(s): John H. Zhang (Altamont, NY)
Assignee(s): STMicroelectronics, Inc. (Coppell, TX)
Law Firm: Seed IP Law Group LLP (1 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 14983078 on 12/29/2015 (623 days app to issue)

Abstract: A sequence of processing steps presented herein is used to embed an optical signal path within an array of nanowires, using only one lithography step. Using the techniques disclosed, it is not necessary to mask electrical features while forming optical features, and vice versa. Instead, optical and electrical signal paths can be created substantially simultaneously in the same masking cycle. This is made possible by a disparity in the widths of the respective features, the optical signal paths being significantly wider than the electrical ones. Using a damascene process, the structures of disparate widths are plated with metal that over-fills narrow trenches and under-fills a wide trench. An optical cladding material can then be deposited into the trench so as to surround an optical core for light transmission.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is 3D memory with vertical NAND strings having a III-V compound channel, as well as methods of fabrication. The III-V compound has at least one group III element and at least one group V element. The III-V compound provides for high electron mobility transistor cells. Note that III-V materials may have a much higher electron mobility compared to silicon. Thus, much higher cell current and overall cell performance can be achieved. Also, the memory device may have better read-write efficiency due to much higher carrier mobility and velocity. The tunnel dielectric of the memory cells may have an Al[subscript]2[/subscript]O[subscript]3 [/subscript]film in direct contact with the III-V NAND channel. The drain end of the NAND channel may be a metal-III-V alloy in direct contact with a metal region. The body of the source side select transistor could be formed from the III-V compound or from crystalline silicon.
