Systems, methods and apparatuses for subjective self-refraction
Patent No. 10674904
Inventor(s): Matthew A. Phares (Plano, TX)
Assignee(s): M.P. Optics, LLC (Buffalo, WY)
Law Firm: Marin Patents, LP (1 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 15705774 on 09/15/2017 (998 days app to issue)
Abstract: The system allows one with no prior training in refraction to subjectively screen, measure, and correct for their own refractive error without the assistance of a second person through subjective self-refraction (SSR). One accomplishes SSR by interacting with refractor input controls, which manipulate lenses in front of their eye(s). The SSR process is accomplished via pre-programming, allowing for direct feedback between the system and user from sensory cues that are prompted by interacting with the input controls. The resulting health data may be displayed or transmitted to the user or another individual for later use. The refraction process may incorporate remote data management technology and computer network capabilities that provides for efficiency, improved accuracy, cost savings and user experience enhancement and may allow for greater access to vision correction services for many people.

Assignee(s): TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INCORPORATED (Dallas, TX)
Law Firm: No Counsel
Application No., Date, Speed: 15204243 on 07/07/2016 (1433 days app to issue)
Abstract: A streaming engine employed in a digital signal processor specified a fixed data stream. Once started the data stream is read only and cannot be written. Once fetched the data stream is stored in a first-in-first-out buffer for presentation to functional units in the fixed order. Data use by the functional unit is controlled using the input operand fields of the corresponding instruction. A read only operand coding supplies the data an input of the functional unit. A read/advance operand coding supplies the data and also advances the stream to the next sequential data elements. The read only operand coding permits reuse of data without requiring a register of the register file for temporary storage.

The tamper detection countermeasure architects an active mesh to cover a sensitive area in the security ASIC. A plurality of time-varying random numbers is generated by a random number generator (RNG), and the active mesh is driven and configured according to these random numbers. During tamper detection cycles, the active mesh is monitored with respect to the plurality of random numbers that is directly provided by the RNG. Upon a tampering attempt, a flag signal is generated and used to initialize subsequent anti-tampering actions. The active mesh may be controlled and monitored based on time-varying codes, and therefore, an adversary may not easily bypass the active mesh and attack the sensitive area.

Abstract: Embodiments of this disclosure provide techniques for determining a device”s beam correspondence status. As used herein, a device is considered to have ”beam correspondence” when the device”s TX and RX antennas satisfy a calibration criteria. In one example, a device”s TX and RX antennas satisfy the calibration criteria when a difference between quality parameters corresponding to reference signals transmitted and received using corresponding TX and RX beams is less than a threshold. In another example, a device”s TX and RX antennas satisfy the calibration criteria when a list of indices ranking the device”s TX beams matches a list of indices ranking the device”s RX beams. The lists of indices may be derived by transmitting and receiving references signals according to the devices RX and TX beams, and then generating list of indices based on quality parameters of the respective RX and TX beams.
