Multi-chip timing alignment to a common reference signal
Patent No. 10496127

Inventor(s): Michael Dean Womac (McKinney, TX)
Assignee(s): LINEAR TECHNOLOGY HOLDING LLC (Norwood, MA)
Law Firm: Schwegman Lundberg Woessner, P.A. (11 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 15997557 on 06/04/2018 (547 days app to issue)

Abstract: The subject technology provides for removing a source of delay in a phase-locked loop (PLL) by causing the output rising edge to occur at the same time as the input rising edge. The subject technology replicates the amount of delay experienced along an input reference signal path to the PLL as close as possible using a same circuit configuration and bias circuits as in the input reference signal path. For example, a timing alignment circuit containing a replica circuit adds compensation delay to a negative feedback loop signal to match the feedback loop delay with the reference path delay. The delay of the reference signal path is estimated and added into the replica circuit. The delay characteristics of these two paths negate one another such that the phases of the input reference signal and the feedback loop signal become phase-locked at the input to the PLL.

Non-volatile memory with reduced program speed variation
Patent No. 10497711

Inventor(s): Ashish Baraskar (Santa Clara, CA), Liang Pang (San Jose, CA), Raghuveer Makala (Campbell, CA), Yanli Zhang (San Jose, CA), Yingda Dong (San Jose, CA)

Law Firm: Vierra Magen Marcus LLP (2 non-local offices)
Application No., Date, Speed: 15846620 on 12/19/2017 (714 days app to issue)

Abstract: A three-dimensional non-volatile memory is provided with reduced programming variation across word lines. The gate lengths of word lines decrease from the top to the bottom of the memory hole. Increased programming speeds due to a narrow memory hole are offset by a smaller gate length at corresponding positions. A blocking dielectric thickness may also be varied, independently or in combination with a variable word line thickness. The blocking dielectric is formed with a horizontal thickness that is larger at regions adjacent to the lower word line layers and smaller at regions adjacent to the upper word line layers. The larger thickness at the lower word line layers reduces the programming speed in the memory hole for the lower word lines relative to the upper word lines. A variance in programming speed resulting from differences in memory hole diameter may be offset by a corresponding variance in blocking dielectric thickness.

Application No., Date, Speed: 16112254 on 08/24/2018 (466 days app to issue)

Abstract: A method of channel access for a radio device in an asynchronous channel hopping wireless network. A backoff time is set from an Interference Avoidance Delay plus a random backoff time for transmissions from the radio device. For initial frame transmissions, an initial value for a number of backoffs (nb) and initial number of preamble detection backoffs (npdb) is set. After waiting for expiring of the initial backoff time and provided a current npdb_valuea predetermined maximum npdb value, a first CCA is performed on the radio device”s receive (Rx) channel, and a value for npdb is incremented following a failure. A second CCA is performed on a target radio device”s Rx channel, wherein a value for nb is incremented following a failure. Provided a not busy is determined in the second CCA the radio device transmits a frame on the target radio device”s Rx channel.
