Veteran executive Toni Broberg has been appointed vice president of external affairs at Gigapower, a joint venture between Dallas-based AT&T and a fund managed by New York City-based Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), a part of Blackrock with the goal of expanding high-speed, reliable fiber internet via open-access networks.
Gigapower CEO Bill Hogg said Toni’s “talent and passion for her work become immediately apparent” when you meet her.
Hogg said she brings policy insight, leadership experience, and industry knowledge that make her an asset to the team. “We’re delighted to have her support as Gigapower works to build the digital infrastructure that communities across America need,” the CEO said.
We first told you about Gigapower in 2022.
The company said that Broberg will lead Gigapower’s strategic engagement with local, state, and external stakeholders and support its broadband infrastructure expansion and public policy initiatives. Broberg also will work as a member of the leadership team to drive the company’s overall strategic growth initiatives, the company said.
Before coming to Gigapower in 2023, Broberg was president of the Desert Southwest Region for AT&T, overseeing operations and external affairs across Arizona and New Mexico.
Gigapower said she brings a wealth of public sector experience to her corporate leadership, having served in the Obama White House as deputy associate director for communities at the Council on Environmental Quality. Also, Broberg was senior advisor for congressional affairs at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and she has extensive experience navigating complex government affairs at the local, state, and federal levels.
Broberg calls it “a defining moment” for how the country connects communities and said he sees Gigapower as a leading driver of that effort.
In a statement, she said she’s excited to join a team of professionals who are deeply committed to the mission. “There is a strong sense of purpose within this organization, and I am proud to be part of it,” Broberg said.
Gigapower builds, owns, and operates a state-of-the-art fiber network to serve internet service providers and other businesses in select locations within the United States.
