The Last Word: Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney on Leading Texas in Number of Roundabouts

Frisco is the No. 1 city in the Lone Star State and the No. 7 city in the U.S. in its number of roundabout intersections. That's according to a story by Susan McFarland in the Dallas Morning News. Citing data from Kittelson & Associates, the DMN says Frisco has 61 roundabouts, with four more under construction and 16 in the design phase.

This week, Plano-based Frito-Lay announced the launch of the first-ever Doritos Nacho Cheese spirit, in a collaboration with Copenhagen-based Empirical spirits.

The Trinity Park Conservancy unveiled plans last week for the $325 million Harold Simmons Park—a 250-acre park along a stretch of the Trinity River close to downtown. Named after the late billionaire businessman whose wife, Annette Simmons, donated $50 million for the park in 2016—it will be located between the Margaret McDermott Bridge and Ronald Kirk Bridge just west of downtown Dallas.

Mill City 50, a 50-home affordable housing community planned for a neighborhood in Southern Dallas, is slated to have its first 10 homes hit the market in early 2024. It will be the result of the project leadership of Brown-Key, whose company is a joint venture between Matthews Southwest and Dallas nonprofit Urban Specialists Inc.

NYSE President Lynn Martin was in Dallas last week meeting with business leaders of some of the 50-plus DFW companies listed on the NYSE, as well as others that may be looking to go public. She was definitely on business-friendly ground in both the city and the Lone Star State, since more than 200 of the nearly 2,400 companies listed on the NYSE are based in Texas.
