Shaq—that’s Shaquille O’Neal, in case you’re not into the whole brevity thing—spent 19 years in the NBA making crowds roar. At 7 feet 1 inch, he scored 28,596 points for a total of six teams as one of the best basketball players in history. But today he’s making crowds roar from behind the decks at EDM concerts as DJ Diesel.
That collision of sports and music is a familiar sight and sound at LIV Golf tournaments, known for their more raucous take on golf, complete with giant speakers pumping tunes near the clubhouse.
It will all come together on Saturday, September 21, during the LIV Golf Dallas Team Championship, to be held September 20-22 at Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton. While all 13 LIV Golf teams compete for the 2024 team championship trophy and a $50 million purse, Shaq—we mean Diesel—will be prepping for a side event in Dallas: the September 21 debut of the Sports Illustrated LIV Golf Experience.
Four DJs in an event ‘fusing the worlds of sport and entertainment’
Scheduled in between the golf event’s final two rounds, the Saturday night event promises to fuse the worlds of sport and entertainment with “thrilling live performances, and top-tier hospitality.”
The Sports Illustrated LIV Golf Experience will held at Groot Hospitality’s Komodo restaurant and lounge at 2550 Pacific Avenue from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. The night will feature DJ performances by Shaq—sorry, Diesel—and DJ Zack Bia in Komodo’s VIP lounge. In Komodo’s main room, DJs Dombresky, and Linska will be pumping the volume.
The Konodo event is open to the public with general admission starting at $75. (Want to snag a VIP table? They start at $3,000 for six guests.)
