AMPLIFY will feature keynote speaker DeSoto Mayor Rachel L. Proctor.

Carlos White

Carlos White, a corporate and transactional attorney, as well as the city of Dallas’ first franchise impact ambassador, will moderate a conversation with Proctor as she shares her story of how she is “disrupting” the entrepreneurial ecosystem as DeSoto’s mayor and as an entrepreneur of color, as well as revealing details about the city of DeSoto’s new collaboration with The DEC Network.

“I can think of no more fitting keynote speaker for Amplify than City of DeSoto Mayor Rachel L. Proctor, a two-time author, a life-long entrepreneur, and a community advocate, DEC Network CEO Bill Chinn said in a statement. “Her conversation with Carlos will truly be an inspiration to all of our entrepreneurs in attendance.”

Bill Chinn

Chinn says The DEC Network is honored to “amplify” the successes of BIPOC entrepreneurs with five awards, as the nonprofit previews its upcoming Disrupt Dallas Summit on August 12. “We hope the community will join us in voting for these remarkable and deserving nominees,” he said.

Dallas Startup Week is The DEC Network’s largest, premiere event for DFW small business owners and entrepreneurs. The event is sponsored by Capital One and the program includes a five-day celebration that builds momentum and opportunity around entrepreneurship and innovation.

Started in 2015, DSW began with the goal of orchestrating an entire week of entrepreneurial activities that equip, encourage, and educate current and aspiring entrepreneurs to start, build, and grow their businesses. DSW also was created to help increase the awareness and impact of the entrepreneurial community across North Texas, DEC Network said.

Dallas Startup Week will be held Aug. 11 to 15, and all DSW events are free to attend, in-person and at the Embassy Suites Convention Center in Frisco.
