Celina, a fast-growing city 40 miles north of Dallas, is slated to get a swanky new addition: the 1876 Country Club, named after the year the city was founded.
Carrollton-based Centurion American Development Group announced the formation of the luxury country club, which will be located in Celina’s Legacy Hills development. Centurion noted that while North Texas has seen the opening of many new golf courses in the past several years—most notably two championship courses at PGA Frisco—it’s been some time since a new country club opened in the region.
Led by CEO Mehrdad Moayedi, who founded Centurion American in 1990, the company has delivered high-profile local projects including the Residences of the Statler Hilton in downtown Dallas.
“1876 will offer Celina and all of the region a truly unique and special place to gather,” Moayedi said in a statement. “This spectacular country club will become the central hub for the Legacy Hills development.”

Centurion American said 1876 will feature “an exceptional golf experience” along with a fully appointed clubhouse, tennis courts, swimming, dining, and social opportunities. The development team is also considering the addition of a boutique hotel to the property.
Sandy Lewis, the club’s director of sales, operations and membership, has begun offering founding memberships to individuals and businesses. Initially, only golf memberships will be sold, but the club will eventually offer both tennis and social memberships.
“We’ve already had amazing interest in 1876,” Lewis said in a statement. “Since Centurion American broke ground on the Legacy Hills development in April 2022, we’ve had inquiries from people enthusiastic about the potential for this beautiful golf facility.”

The 1876 golf program will include an 18-hole course designed by Lee Singletary as well as a driving range, practice facility, and short-game area. The course will play to a length of 7,337 yards from the championship tees. Five sets of tees at each hole will make the course playable for a variety of handicaps.
The scenic course is being routed around “beautiful mature live oaks and cedar elm trees as well as around Little Elm Creek and its tributaries,” the developer noted, with grasses on the course including TifEagle Bermuda on the greens and TiffTuff Bermuda on the tees, fairways, and roughs.
The golf course is tentatively scheduled to open in November 2024, after which the clubhouse facilities will be built. The full-service facility will include a state-of-the-art fitness center including men’s and women’s locker rooms with saunas, a group fitness area, and private member areas. Both fine and casual dining opportunities will be available, Centurion added.
