Duro Hospitality recently opened Mister Charles (above) in the former home of the historic Highland Park Soda Fountain in Dallas’ Knox Street District. Martin spoke with Forbes’ Benjamin Liong Setiawan about why Dallas has become an emerging food & beverage destination.
“With no mountains or oceans, Dallas thrives on its vibrant business scene, making dining and socializing core activities,” Martin told Forbes. “The city embodies dynamic energy, where work and enjoyment intertwine, making it a place where you can achieve and indulge, from your career to your cuisine.”
According to Martin, Dallas’ status as a “rising star in the F&B realm” is the result of a “steady evolution.” It’s been on a “growth trajectory for years, with each step contributing to its current status,” he said. “The city’s sustained expansion, fueled by corporate investments and individual migrations, has set the stage.”
He sees Dallas’ cuisine scene getting more exciting every day.
“National players such as Major Food Group, Starr Group, H.Wood Group, and so on are eyeing Dallas for expansion, while local pioneers are pushing the boundaries,” Martin told Forbes. “Dallas is poised for a golden era of dining, as renowned establishments set their sights on the city. Innovative concepts and big-scale restaurants will define the landscape.”
