Williams is one of four North Texas entrepreneurs we profiled last week who got funding through The DEC Network from the Small Business Administration’s Community Navigator Pilot Program.
In our story,Williams tells how she pivoted in 2020 from her career as a formulation chemist into the gooey-good calling of reinventing what cinnamon rolls can be.
“Whenever I didn’t think I was ready for a store,” Matthews recalled at a recent Entrepreneur Showcase, “my [Small Business Development Center] advisor said ‘You’re ready. Your numbers look good, your sales look good. Let’s go forward.’ With his encouragement, I took that leap of faith”—and her Holy Rollie Pastry Shop in Irving was born.
So how did she get the dough she needed to make cinnamon roll history?
Though her advisor got her in front of a lot of banks, “We decided to bootstrap, liquidate some of our assets, and budget to open our first brick and mortar,” she said.
You can learn more about her sweet success by reading our story.
