It’s hard to take a selfie at a ball game. When you hold out your phone, you’re likely to knock over someone’s beer—or even worse, drop your phone into the orange goop of someone’s ballpark nachos.
Luckily, Texas Rangers fans will have a better option during two upcoming games. Thanks to a new partnership among the Texas Rangers, sponsor Justin Boots, and Minneapolis-based Fancam, fans can find themselves after the home games in a 360-degree gigapixel “one-of-a-kind” interactive crowd photo.
After the games, fans can go online to see the 360-degree photo from the game they attended. Then they can mouse around and zoom in to find their faces in the crowd, tagging their names with a Texas Rangers logo. Saving the memory forever is just a screenshot away—but it’s the zooming in and out that’s most fun. (Almost as much fun as watching the first-place Rangers in one of their best seasons ever. This afternoon, the team’s record stood at 58-39 after a six-game win streak, the third-best record in all of baseball.)
‘An entirely new way’ to commemorate your fandom
“Through Fancam’s unique gigapixel photos, the Texas Rangers and Justin Boots are creating an entirely new way for guests to commemorate their experience at Globe Life Field,” Chad Wynn, Texas Rangers VP of Business Partnerships, said in a statement. “This partnership offers the best fans in baseball another opportunity to showcase their Rangers fandom by tagging themselves and friends in these one-of-a-kind crowd photos that capture the gameday experience.”
Next Fancam 360 photo is this Saturday at Globe Life Field
Fancam says it captured a number of Texas Rangers games earlier in the season. The first iteration of the Justin Boots activation happened on July 1st against the Houston Astros.
The activation will happen again at two more games this season: this Saturday night, July 22nd, against the LA Dodgers, and September 23rd against the Seattle Mariners.
“We’re excited to be providing Rangers’ fans the unique ability to find and share their photos from the ballpark, and look forward to continuing this activation for the team this season and beyond,” Rachel Goodger, chief revenue officer of Fancam, said in the statement. “Incorporating Fancam into the gameday experience is a fantastic opportunity for both the Rangers and Justin Boots to connect with their fans in a personal way.”
