Reese Witherspoon is known for playing strong female characters and she wants more of that in Hollywood. The actress has partnered with Otter Media to produce female-led shows, podcasts, and movies, The Dallas Morning News reported.
Otter Media is a joint venture between Dallas-based AT&T and The Chernin Group, a company led by media mogul Peter Chernin.
“It’s a relevant indication of how deeply AT&T believes in building its content business,” Chernin told Forbes.
”We’re thinking about reaching women where they live, on their laptops or on their mobile phones.”

Witherspoon founded Pacific Standard in 2011 with a focus on creating stories with complex plot lines that would appeal to women. Examples of its work includes Gone Girl and Wild, a movie that garnered Witherspoon a nomination for the Best Actress Academy Award.
In her new company, Hello Sunshine, Witherspoon plans to expand the types of female-oriented content she produces with formats more suited for the “social media age,” according to Forbes.
“It was borne out having two teenage kids and seeing the way they consume content and how women consume content,” Witherspoon told Forbes. ”We’re thinking about reaching women where they live, on their laptops or on their mobile phones.”
