Even the best startup concept can fail for reasons that have nothing to do with the entrepreneurs who founded it.
Whether it’s lack of funding or the inability to attract talent, these gaps may be different in every city and are keeping great ideas from coming to fruition.

Now, entrepreneurs around the world are being asked to complete the Startup Ecosystem 2016 survey to find what problems these fledgling companies are running into and how to fix them.
“Our mission is to increase the success rate of startups by fueling the growth of startup ecosystems all over the world,” said JF Gauthier, president of Startup Genome. “The number of startups is growing rapidly everywhere but the problem is in many ecosystems, the attrition rate is abnormally high.”
The survey will give the Startup Genome a deep look at the trends for hundreds of thousands of companies worldwide, helping to identify the resource gaps in different sectors and cities.
Companies can take the 15-minute survey here. The answers will remain confidential and will only be used for research. Participants will get access to free or discounted services after completing the survey.
The Startup Genome partnered with CrunchBase to do the survey, which will feature more than 100 cities.
The report will be published in January.
