Venture Dallas has revealed the finalists for its 2024 Startup of the Year awards. Thanks to a record-breaking number of nominations, the field has been expanded from six to 10 finalists in each category.

The winners will be announced at the Venture Dallas Summit on October 30 at the George W. Bush Presidential Center, according to David Evans, managing partner at Sentiero Ventures and a Venture Dallas steering committee member. Evans said the group received an “overwhelming response” to its call for nominations in the awards’ second year.

This year’s finalists represent some of North Texas’ most promising startups, ranging from healthcare innovators to tech solutions addressing challenges in education, finance, and artificial intelligence, according to Venture Dallas.

Basewell
Basewell provides companies with plug-and-play tools to centralize knowledge, helping teams quickly find information and build expertise. Harbor combines a baby monitor with a remote night nanny service, offering parents expert sleep guidance at an affordable cost. With its innovative blend of hardware and remote care, Harbor makes professional sleep support accessible to millions of families.

Lumin
Lumin is transforming the fitness experience with its “fitness studio of the future” that uses AI-driven feedback, motion tracking, projection mapping, and immersive environments. Offering personalized workouts and interactive features, Lumin provides users with a cutting-edge fitness solution that evolves with their progress.

Monument
Monument is a platform designed to streamline self-storage management, helping operators organize and track their spaces more efficiently. By providing real-time data and easy-to-use tools, Monument enhances the operations of self-storage businesses.

Nurovant
Nurovant leverages AI to simplify complex educational content, making learning more accessible for students and professionals. By transforming difficult material into digestible formats, Nurovant aims to support learners across top institutions and drive better educational outcomes.

Rosy
Rosy is a women’s health platform that addresses a range of issues from low libido to menopause. Providing personalized resources and support, Rosy empowers women to take control of their health with a focus on holistic well-being.

SWYE360 Learning
SWYE360 uses AI to measure the effectiveness of education software and identify students at risk of dropping out. By helping schools optimize their resources, SWYE360 is improving student outcomes while saving institutions time and money.

Kindly Human has also partnered with IBM Watson to further drive intelligent human connections powered by natural language understanding and user sentiment.

Krista is an AI-led automation platform for enterprise that helps businesses easily deploy AI into their processes. By using natural language commands, Krista allows companies to automate processes across people and existing systems.

TAP (Training All People)
TAP uses virtual reality to provide immersive training for industrial workers, helping companies like Honeywell and Northrop Grumman and educational partners such as Dallas College improve workforce development. Its scalable training solutions offer a safer and more cost-effective way to build skills.

UpSmith
UpSmith is addressing the skilled labor shortage with a platform that gamifies technician training, boosting productivity in industries like home services. By providing engaging and efficient training, UpSmith is helping companies build a stronger workforce.

Zirtue
Zirtue is a peer-to-peer lending platform that simplifies personal loans between friends and family. The relationship-based lending application offers a streamlined platform for startups to access funding. By automating the loan process, Zirtue makes borrowing and lending secure, transparent, and easy to manage.

What’s Next for the Finalists?

The finalists will be evaluated by a panel of judges from venture firms across Texas, Evans said. 

Before the main event, the finalists can also attend an exclusive VIP reception on October 29, where they can connect with investors and fellow entrepreneurs.
