Brought to you by the Office of Brand and Communication at UNT Health Science Center, the Innovate Fort Worth Podcast features local startups and entrepreneurs from across Fort Worth.
Hosted by Fort Worth-based Cameron Cushman, the director of Innovation Ecosystems at UNTHSC, the podcast aims to share the stories of the city’s leading innovators, entrepreneurs, and investors, as well as feature the local resources available to bring ideas to market.
“We created Innovate Fort Worth to ignite a conversation between the innovators, investors and entrepreneurs in our community,” Cushman said in a statement. “These connections are critical because innovators are most successful when they have access to supportive resources, capital and mentors who can help guide them on their entrepreneurial journeys.”
Since the release of its first episode in September, the podcast has featured four Fort Worth-based CEOs and innovators. Most recently, Les Kreis, a venture capitalist and the managing partner and co-founder of Bios Partners, spoke on the podcast.
A few of the podcast’s other guests include:
- Marco Johnson, who spent years working outside of the country in places including East Africa. Now, he can be found connecting Fort Worth entrepreneurs with the right resources for their startups through Sparkyard.
- Cam Sadler, a former teacher at Dunbar High School who cashed in his retirement savings and started a company to help job seekers receive offers from tech businesses. He’s also the first Fort Worth entrepreneur accepted into Y Combinator, which has funded startups like Airbnb and Dropbox.
- Veena Somareddy, a virtual and augmented reality software developer who, along with Bruce Conti, turned an old Fort Worth furniture store into a state-of-the-art rehab center and founded Neuro Rehab VR, which uses tech to change the lives of people with brain and spinal injuries.
Along with the podcast, Cushman has teamed up with the UNTHSC, TCU Neely School of Business, and the city of Fort Worth to found Sparkyard, a platform dedicated to connecting entrepreneurs and business owners to the resources they need to launch and scale their companies.
