Plano-based Toyota Connected North America has announced the appointment of a new president/CEO along with other executive leadership moves it said “will further establish the company as a data and software innovation hub for Toyota.”
Christopher Yang has been promoted to become the company’s new president and CEO, replacing Steve Basra, who left the company on June 30. Yang had been TCNA’s EVP and chief operating officer.
Yang will report to Toyota Connected Corporation President Keiji Yamamoto. He’ll continue his current responsibilities at TMNA as group VP of Business Development and deputy general counsel of Toyota Legal One.
Other moves include new COO, chief liaison officer, and more
In other moves, James George has been appointed senior vice president and COO of TCNA, succeeding Yang, the company said. George was also appointed to TCNA’s board of directors. He’ll report to Yang and maintains his current responsibilities at TMNA as general manager of EV Charging Solutions within the Business Development division.
Kohta Arai, head of global operations at TCNA, was appointed chief liaison officer for the company, and will report to Yang. In this role, Arai will be responsible for enhancing collaboration between TCNA and global Toyota organizations. Arai continues in his TMNA position as head of global operations in Business Development.
Nilay Davé, general counsel, will continue to lead the company’s legal teams, TCNA said. Davé was also recently appointed chief compliance officer. He will continue in his role leading TMNA Legal’s technology transaction team.
TCNA provides data-driven services for Toyota and Lexus customers
Known for the ground-up development and operations of Toyota Motor North America’s in-house telematics service provider, TCNA collaborates with TMNA and other global Toyota companies to provide millions of customers with data-driven services that enhance the Toyota and Lexus driving experience, the company said.
