Topgolf Names New Chief People Officer

The appointment of Maryam Morse comes as Topgolf continues to innovate in the golf entertainment sector and expand its global footprint. Morse, who joins the company from Andrews Distributing, will oversee the Playmaker experience and support the company’s mental well-being platform.

Topgolf, a “modern golf entertainment” leader based in Dallas, has appointed Maryam Morse as its new Chief People Officer, effective May 27, according to a company announcement. Morse joins the company from Andrews Distributing, where she served as EVP of Human Resources and Communications since 2018.

In her new role, Morse will oversee recruitment and retention, leadership development, training and compliance, the Playmaker (employee) experience, and Topgolf’s internal mental well-being platform. The HR veteran will be part of the company’s Executive Leadership Team, reporting directly to Topgolf CEO Artie Starrs.

“Maryam’s extensive background in evolving and enhancing the employee experience will be a great benefit to all of us at Topgolf,” said Starrs. “We’re fortunate at Topgolf to have found a leader who not only has the expertise for the role but also embraces our brand’s playful spirit and focus on company culture.”

Morse, who is recognized for her ability to develop innovative talent management strategies and has managed consumer relationships for several Fortune 500 clients, is set to meet 30,000 “Playmakers,” according to Starrs, who will “be in good hands with her at the helm of our People team.”

Per Topgolf, Morse brings a wealth of experience to her new position, having held various leadership roles at the global organizational consulting firm Korn Ferry for over 17 years and working as a change management consultant for Accenture.

“I’m thrilled to be joining such a fun, high-growth company with a culture that is front and center,” said Morse. “As a Topgolf Player, I’ve always enjoyed the camaraderie and fun I’ve had when visiting a Topgolf venue, and to now be part of that experience is truly rewarding.”

Morse joins Topgolf, a brand under Topgolf Callaway Brands Corp. (NYSE: MODG), during a period of growth and expansion for the company. The 2021 merger of Topgolf and Callaway Golf has positioned the combined entity to capitalize on the increasing interest in golf as a form of entertainment.

According to Starrs, Topgolf’s strategy involves using technology and partnerships to improve customer experiences and expand its presence in the golf entertainment industry. The company has made acquisitions, such as BigShots Golf, and formed partnerships, including one with Special Olympics, to support its growth objectives and promote inclusivity in the sport.
