There are #NewBootsInTown. The newly branded Dallas Trinity FC, Dallas’ new top-tier women’s professional soccer club, will take over the Cotton Bowl Stadium beginning this August, according to the Dallas Sports Commission.
The USL Super League celebrated its milestone today by unveiling the club’s name, crest, and colors at a special event at Klyde Warren Park in Dallas.
Dallas Trinity FC CEO Jim Neil sees Dallas as an “ideal fit” for the expansion team.
“Soccer is the pathway to community for many families,” he said in an announcement. “Dallas is the perfect backdrop for our expansion, growth, and community to grow wings.”
The club’s main colors—sunrise maroon, prairie gold, and live oak green—are inspired by the Dallas skyline and Trinity River, Dallas Trinity FC said. They reflect the nature of the city and the team’s commitment to “local pride and excellence.”
The choice of Dallas as a home base for the team is no accident. Today, the Dallas region is home to more girls soccer players than anywhere else in the U.S., Dallas Trinity FC noted, citing U.S. Youth Soccer Association stats.
The city also boasts a rich history in girls’ soccer, dating back to the founding of the Dallas Sting, the first all-girls soccer club in the United States, in 1973. And, established in 1980, the Dallas Cup remains the most prestigious youth soccer tournament in the country, per Dallas Trinity FC.
“North Texas has been waiting for this, and now is the right time for professional women’s soccer in Dallas — the best sports business city in the country,” said Charlie Neil, Dallas Trinity FC President, at the Klyde Warren Park event.
