“We all know gratitude changes the brain chemistry.”
Rachel Larlee
Mixed-Media Artist, Mindfulness Workshop Creator, and Early Childhood Development Specialist
.…on practicing the art of gratitude through art and creativity, via the Lake Highlands Advocate.
Larlee operates an e-commerce site called Rachel Larlee Studio and teaches classes out of a physical studio at The Village apartments in Dallas. But no matter where she is or what she’s doing, one of her goals is practicing the art of gratitude—and often, expressing it through art and creativity.
“Creativity has always been like a reset for me,” she told the Lake Highlands Advocate. “I’m an introvert, and having three children and an extrovert husband, I needed those moments of reset: of going in and creating.”
Her background in psychology helps shape both what she teaches and practices.
“Embroidery, particularly, is such a beautifully mindful process because you’re focusing on every little stitch and you get better,” Larlee told the publication.
This summer, she’ll be offering creative camps for teens and preteens in addition to the open houses she hosts on Saturdays.
You can read more about those “camps”—and Larlee’s life story—in the Advocate story here.
