Tiffany Tate (McDaniel) has been announced as the new CEO of Dallas-based The Family Place, Texas’ largest family violence service agency, now in its 46th year.
The agency said that Tate brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the agency. She takes on the new role a decade after joining The Family Place as vice president of non-residential services in 2014. Most recently, she was chief operating officer and interim CEO.
Harold Ginsburg, chairman of The Family Place board of directors, said the organization conducted an extensive search and found the ideal leader in their interim CEO.
“Tiffany’s illustrious career, marked by over two decades in nonprofit social services, showcases her relentless dedication to uplifting the most vulnerable in our society,” Ginsburg said in a statement. “In her various leadership positions, and most recently as our Interim CEO, her impactful contributions and visionary leadership have already brought significant advancements to our organization and the survivors we support.”
He added that the organization’s leaders “are confident that under her guidance, The Family Place will continue to thrive and make an even greater difference in the lives of those we serve.”
Before joining The Family Place, Tate spent 20 years doing critical work to support abused women and children, individuals with severe mental illness, and homeless populations.
Her previous positions at such organizations as the Texas Department of Family Services, Texas Health Resources, Presbyterian Night Shelter, and The Salvation Army DFW Command Center, equipped her with the skills and insights necessary to lead The Family Place, the agency said.
‘Critical services that help survivors find safety and hope for the future’
During her time at The Family Place, Tate has led numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing client services and expanding the organization’s reach.
The initiatives include her instrumental role in the design, development, operations and implementation of the first shelter for men and children in the nation; securing The Family Place as the Domestic Violence High Risk Team for Dallas County; developing the first shelter with an animal kennel to support victims fleeing with pets; expanding the organization’s counseling services to Collin County; and designing the extended stay emergency shelter program—all of which have significantly improved the lives of countless individuals and families, the organization said.
“Through my work at The Family Place over the past decade, I have witnessed firsthand the resilience and strength of the survivors we serve, as well as the unwavering dedication of our team,” Tate said in a statement. “I’m deeply honored to serve as CEO and am eager to continue building on our strong foundation of critical services that help survivors find safety and hope for the future.”
The Family Place is the largest provider of family violence services in Texas, serving more than 44,000 people in 2023.
Its programs include a 24-hour hotline, three emergency shelters, including the state’s only shelter for men and their children, a transitional housing program with 25 apartments, three counseling centers, two medical clinics, a dental clinic, a job readiness program, violence prevention education programs for schools, court-ordered supervised visitation, court-ordered counseling for abusers, and legal services.
All survivor services are free and provided in Spanish and English, The Family Place said.
