Toyota and Washington, D.C.-based utility company Pepco are partnering to explore bidirectional power flow technology. The tech will allow battery EV owners to not only charge their vehicles but also send power back to the local energy grid during peak demand hours or at critical times—such as severe weather events.

Plano-based Toyota Motor North America has announced executive changes that it said are designed to drive continued growth, advance its commitment to vehicle electrification, and prepare for the future of mobility.
Kevin Voelkel has been promoted to senior vice president, vehicle plants. The companies will collaborate on a pilot project on vehicle-to-grid technology, which allows vehicles to flow energy from their battery packs to the electric grid.
