The Texas Supreme Court ruled today that Texas Central "has eminent domain authority" to survey and seize land needed for its proposed $30 billion bullet train line between Dallas and Houston.

Texas Central President and CEO Carlos Aguilar announced his resignation on LinkedIn over the weekend. The news comes as the Texas Supreme Court is poised to issue an eminent domain ruling that could impact the bullet train project's future.

Texas Central Signs Up Spain’s Renfe As Early Operator of High-Speed Dallas-Houston Railway

As the Early Operator of the Dallas-Houston line, Renfe will help Texas Central design and develop commercial aspects of the system and advise and consult on final design, execution, construction, testing, and the commissioning of everything from station and buildings to core systems and O&M tech.

The proposed 90-minute rail connecting Dallas and Houston has another big-name organization behind it: Italian industrial group Webuild. Operating in the U.S. with The Lane Construction Corporation, Webuild will execute all the heavy construction for the project, including designing and building all 236 miles of the alignment.

Kiewit, one of the oldest infrastructure building contractors, will install the core electrical systems needed for the Dallas-to-Houston high-speed train. After a year of COVID, the Texas Central team told us, it's now back on track with an expected completion of 2026 or 2027.
