According to a new report from the Brookings Institution, since the pandemic hit in 2020, a "reorientation" has occurred in U.S. tech jobs growth, with growth in share of national digital services jobs moving from "Big Tech meccas" to "vibrant rising star" metros like Dallas-Fort Worth.
The extended deadline to apply for Fall 2022 is August 15. NPower Texas is the state arm of a national nonprofit offering free tech training to 18- to 26-year-olds and military veterans and spouses.
80% of the program's graduates find full-time jobs or continue their education—with an average salary boost of 384%. In March, philanthropist MacKenzie Scott donated $15 million to NPower, its largest donation ever.
Despite turmoil in the markets and layoffs making headlines, the tech job market remains relatively strong in Dallas, according to a new report.
Across the country, technology companies added 20,300 net new workers in June, marking the 19th consecutive month of growth, according to nonprofit CompTIA’s latest Tech Jobs Report. And among metros, Dallas ranks among the top three for new job postings, though the number of new jobs added month-over-month has declined.
In addition to overall tech job postings, those for remote and work-from-home positions increased across U.S. metros. The top posted remote/WFH positions were software developers (No. 1) and IT support specialists (No. 2).

“We’re building an ecosystem and creating a space for startups to access funding, and helping them scale at the timeliest need for their company during the startup lifecycle,” Senior Vice President at McKinney EDC Danny Chavez said.
Amid Covid-19, that activity is "business resilience on display," the Allen EDC says.
The city's just-announced 105,000-square-foot tech-focused office project is expected to break ground next year. It aims to support a growing technology industry in a city that ranks 28 percent higher in tech-job concentration than the national average.
Dallas joins New York City, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and San Francisco among the cities showing the largest month-over-month growth in January tech job postings.
Dallas ranked No. 3 for the number of IT job ads on the index, which ranked cities based on cost of living, the number of open IT jobs, and the projected job growth over the next 12 months and next five years.
