North Texas Lands $62M+ in EPA Grants for 244 Zero-Emission Vehicles Across Two Organizations

The North Central Texas Council of Governments and the Dallas Independent School District have received grants totaling more than $62 million to help buy 244 zero-emission vehicles via the Environmental Protection Agency’s first-ever Clean Heavy-Duty Vehicles Grant Program.

The EPA program, created by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, will replace existing internal combustion engine heavy-duty vehicles with zero-emission vehicles....

$1M in Federal Funds Boosts Dallas College’s Teacher Residency Apprentice Program

Half the funding came from the Department of Labor, with the other $500K coming from the Department of Education. The innovative teacher residency apprenticeship program is designed to help solve teacher shortages by building a steady pipeline of well-trained teachers. Open to students enrolled in Dallas College’s bachelor’s degree in education program, it allows educators of tomorrow to begin earning while still training.
