Scott Richardson, currently the company's chief operating officer, has been appointed as CEO and will join the company’s board of directors, effective Jan. 1. Edward Galante has been named as the company's new board chair, succeeding outgoing CEO Lori Ryerkerk.
Kim K.W. Rucker succeeds William M. “Bill” Brown who, as previously announced, decided not to seek re-election to the board in conjunction with his appointment as the new CEO of 3M Corp.

Chairman and CEO Lori Ryerkerk said the purpose behind the three new appointments for Scott Richardson, Chuck Kyrish, and Ashley Duffie "is to enhance the alignment of our individual strengths and experience to the value-enhancing opportunities at Celanese."
Ganesh Moorthy is president, CEO, and a member of the board of directors of Microchip Technology Inc. Celanese said he will join its board effective Dec. 1, bringing the total number of board members to 11.
