DFW Tops U.S. Metros in Commercial Property Deals for 3rd Year in a Row

According to the latest MSCI Inc. estimate, more than $42.5 billion in commercial properties were sold in DFW in 2022. North Texas “wrested the top slot from Manhattan at the onset of the pandemic and has held it ever since,” MSCI analysts said in the report.
Dallas-based CBRE was the top-ranked firm for commercial real estate investment sales nationally in 2022—for the 17th straight year.

Co-Founder Clifton Harness says TestFit is the first company to connect pro forma, construction cost, and asset design through building configurator software. The technology allows companies to "de-risk decisions" and log critical time savings when they develop new real estate. According to Dallas-based CBRE’s most recent annual Scoring Tech Talent report, Dallas-Fort Worth now stands in the No. 9 spot, jumping up four places from last year’s report—one of the biggest gains seen by any metro area. The region also ranks No. 5 for women in the tech workforce.

A new report from Dallas-based CRE services and investment firm CBRE shows that DFW was No. 1 in the U.S. in multifamily investments over the last four quarters. Nationwide, Q1 2022 saw the strongest multifamily absorption since 2000. And Texas is leading the U.S. in multifamily completions, as rent growth continues to gain momentum.
“The rise in demand has been fueled by household formation, job and wage growth, and sharply rising home prices,” the report said.

The Solar Company, a Dallas-based startup founded in 2021, has partnered with Granite Redevelopment Properties LP to install a 15-megawatt, 40,000-panel system across 16 of GRP's "all bills paid" apartment communities in Dallas and Tarrant counties.
The startup's co-founder and CEO, Travis Wildeman, tells us the system will offset between 90% and 100% of Granite Redevelopment's electricity costs—and pay for itself in 5 to 7 years.
