American Airlines Is the Only Passenger Airline Named to Dow Jones Sustainability Index for 2nd Straight Year

Just months after investing in a hydrogen fuel distribution startup and striking a $2.75 billion deal to buy sustainable aviation fuel made from refined corn, Fort-Worth based American Airlines has made an important list. For the second year in a row, American is the only passenger airline to land on the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index.

TSA to Expand Facial Recognition Tested in DFW to Airports Across America

In June, American Airlines launched Mobile ID at DFW Airport, enabling customers enrolled in TSA PreCheck to “breeze through the airport with just their phone and their face.” The TSA has since expanded the use of facial recognition technology to 16 airports—and it now plans to roll out the optional service to airports across the U.S. in 2023, according to the Washington Post.

Two months after investing at least $5 million in ZeroAvia, a hydrogen-electric engine developer, Fort Worth-based American Airlines has made a strategic investment in L.A.-based Universal Hydrogen Co., a hydrogen fuel distribution and logistics startup. "This technology has the potential to be a game-changer on the industry’s path to zero-emission flight,” said Derek Kerr, American’s CFO.
