Rising to the Occasion: OutMatch’s New Free Assessment Can Help Execs Better Lead During Crisis

Dallas-based OutMatch's C.R.I.S.I.S. Development tool shows a leader what skills are most effective during a crisis—like COVID-19—and gives a real-time action plan for execution.

Amidst the global coronavirus pandemic, Dallas’ OutMatch is on a mission to help business leaders better figure out how to navigate through a crisis.

The talent analytics platform has launched a free development assessment to help executives be more effective and better identify areas where supplemental development and training is needed. It’s now available at no charge for all companies and managers to test.

The C.R.I.S.I.S. Development tool gets to the heart of leading-with-a-purpose, CEO Greg Moran explains. It’s intended to help both companies and leaders understand where their strengths are and where improvements can be made.

Moran says it also coincides with OutMatch’s mission: To match people with purpose.

OutMatch has a talent intelligence platform that helps companies hire and develop the best employees. The goal is to bring clarity to talent decisions by putting data and insights in a company’s hands. Around 100 million candidates have used the technology so far.

According to the company, it developed the new assessment to analyze how leaders identify potential performance gaps during a crisis. That way, leaders can take care of employees while running head-on toward uncertainty. It measures six core leadership competencies: communicative, resilient, innovative, strategic, influential, and supportive.

Per the company, here’s how the C.R.I.S.I.S. Development tool defines those core competencies:

Communicative: Communicates clearly, concisely, and in a timely manner, engaging the right people at the right time to inspire action.
Resilient: Thinks quickly and decisively, responding with composure, optimism, and hardiness. Remains energetic and perseveres through challenges.
Innovative: Embraces challenges and change calmly and thinks outside of the box to push the organization forward. Quickly adapts to changing circumstances and communicates any concerns.
Strategic: Nimbly adapts strategies and processes, anticipating problems and addressing them quickly. Proactively seeks information and coaches others to think creatively as well. Makes adjustments as needed, while clearly communicating process changes and expectations.
Influential: Proactively gathers input from diverse sources and understands the impact of the decision on all groups impacted by the crisis. Confidently makes decisions and holds themselves -accountable to the outcomes, developing well thought-out steps to ensure that the decision is sound and meets prescribed criteria.
Supportive: Inspires others through clear direction, positive connections, and decisive judgment. Encourages teams to maintain meaningful and positive interactions while also acting quickly in a time of crisis.

The Outmatch assessment results show how companies can create and implement plans of action that benefit all parties involved, it says.

“This assessment can play a powerful role in helping unlock a greater depth of self-awareness and personal effectiveness during times of crisis,” Robin Stenzel, chief solutions officer, said in a statement. “Taking time to reflect on successes and learn from challenges is more critical than ever during times of uncertainty. By taking a few minutes to assess your enduring skills as a leader, and then create an action plan, leaders can push themselves to be the most effective they can be.”
