FORCES SHAPING THE HUMAN-CENTRIC WORKPLACE

MAIN ST. FORT WORTH ARTS FESTIVAL
Various locations in downtown Fort Worth
Begins 10 a.m. Thursday

This four-day, culturally-enriching festival provides fun activities for all ages in a vibrant, urban setting. Covering 18 blocks, you will have the opportunity to listen to live music, watch unique street performances, browse through remarkable artwork, and taste some of the best culinary dishes that this historical district of Fort Worth has to offer.

FRIDAY, APRIL 20

JEFF BEZOS LECTURE AT SMU
SMU campus, Moody Coliseum, 6024 Airline Road, in Dallas
6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Amazon Chairman and CEO Jeff Bezos will be the keynote speaker during the Closing Conversation of the George W. Bush Presidential Center’s Forum on Leadership.

“Jeff Bezos is a visionary entrepreneur who has changed the world,” Ken Hersh, president and CEO of the George W. Bush Presidential Center said in a release about the event. “He exemplifies the type of leader we’re celebrating at the Forum on Leadership, and we look forward sharing his insight and perspective with Dallas.”

FRIDAY, APRIL 20 – SATURDAY, APRIL 21

2018 NORTH TEXAS DIGITAL FABRIACTION SYMPOSIUM
TWU Fine Arts Building, 302 Pioneer Circle, in Denton

The Texas Woman’s University School of Arts will host the 2018 North Texas Digital Fabrication Symposium. Artists, researchers, and students come together for this two-day event to discuss the practice, cultivation, and impact of digital fabrication.

According to the event page, there are six scheduled workshops, spanned over the two days, to give attendees a hands-on learning experience through the utilization of digital fabrication tools. The symposium will also feature a variety of panel discussions centered around: Embodiment & Technology, Adaptation & Play, Process & Practice, and Sustainable Futures.

NORTH TEXAS TEEN BOOK FESTIVAL
Irving Convention Center, 500 W. Las Colinas Boulevard, in Irving
8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday

One of the largest teen book festivals in the country returns to the Irving Convention Center in April. It will kick off April 20 with a full day dedicated to educators, who will hear from authors and learn ways to engage young readers. ROADMAP TO SUCCESS BUSINESS SEMINAR

MONDAY, APRIL 23

DALLAS WORLD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY DAY CELEBRATION
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, 1005 S. Lamar St., in Dallas
6 – 8:30 p.m.

The American Intellectual Property Law Association is partnering with the Texas Regional Office of the United States Patent & Trademark Office to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day in Dallas. On Monday, they will host a 6 p.m. panel discussion featuring local female inventors, followed by the screening of Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story. 

The event captures the spirit of the 2018 World IP Day theme, which is “Powering Change: Women in Innovation and Creativity,” honoring the brilliance and courage of women who are creating and propelling change for the future. Launched in 2000 by World Intellectual Property Organization, World IP Day is officially celebrated annually on April 26 and is intended to promote and protect creative ideas, art, music, trademarks, inventions, and more.

TUESDAY, APRIL 24

BOB PALUCK LECTURE AT SMU
SMU Campus – Huitt-Zollars Pavilion, Embrey 115, 3101 Dyer St., in Dallas
Starts at 6 p.m.

Bob Paluck, distinguished entrepreneur and founder and managing director of CenterPoint Ventures, is attributed to providing support and funding for startups, while promoting the entrepreneurship ecosystem. Paluck was the recipient of the Outstanding Entrepreneurship Award from SMU in 1987 and received the AEA Texas High Technology Entrepreneur Award in 1994, along with many other noteworthy accomplishments. He also holds three patents in various areas of semiconductor design. 

At this event, Paluck will share ideas, experiences, and advice in regards to creating a technology-based startup company. He will cover the early stages of a startup, product development, and personal thoughts on being an entrepreneur.
