WHEN ROCKS ATTACK: DEFENDING THE EARTH FROM ASTEROIDS
Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, 1600 Gendy St., in Fort Worth
6 – 9 p.m.

NASA astronaut and planetary scientist Tom Jones will speak at the museum as part of its Celebrity Series Talk. Jones, who is an expert in asteroid defense, will discuss the prevalence of asteroids in our solar system and their potential impact on Earth, according to the museum website. Jones will be joined by Danica Remy, president of the B612 Foundation and co-founder of UN-sanctioned Asteroid Day.

FRAME4FRAME FESTIVAL

Film enthusiasts, artists, and musicians will gather together for the second annual Frame4Frame festival, which highlights the work of independent filmmakers both locally and worldwide. Renowned jazz musician and founder of the Fort Worth Jazz Orchestra, Adonis Rose, will open the music portion of the festival Thursday. The four-day event will include live music, art exhibits, and screenings of a collection of short films.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 22

THE GREAT HARVEST – A 60TH BIRTHDAY PARTY
Irving Convention Center Ballroom, 500 W. Las Colinas Boulevard, in Irving
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Irving Cares, a nonprof in partnership with the Irving community, is celebrating its 60th year of operation this year. More than 400 guests are expected to to attend this fundraising event, which will include a gourmet dinner, live and silent auctions, raffles, complimentary portraits, and party games. The proceeds of the fundraiser will benefit Irving residents in need of basic living necessities.

GIRLS IN AVIATION DAY DALLAS

The North Texas Chapter of Women in Aviation is paving way for a new generation of young women in aviation. More than 500 expected attendees — girls ages 8 to 16 along with their chaperones — will gather for the Girls in Aviation Day. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with industry experts, explore career possibilities in aviation, and participate in hands-on activities.
