Frisco-based Soleo Health, a national provider of complex specialty pharmacy services, has appointed Jason Weems to the newly created position of chief information officer.
Soleo Health CEO Drew Walk welcomed Weems to the executive management team, calling him a “strategic addition” that strengthens the company’s commitment to “leveraging cutting-edge technology to improve patient care and streamline operations” throughout the enterprise.
“We’re confident that Jason’s deep technology knowledge, broad management expertise and passion for enhancing our patient experience will help further elevate Soleo Health’s market leadership position in the complex specialty pharmacy space,” Walk said in a statement.
In his role, Weems will head Soleo Health’s technology and digital strategy, focusing on enhancing experiences for patients, providers, payors, manufacturers, and employees, the company said. He will oversee initiatives aimed at integrating innovative technology solutions for optimizing patient and provider engagement while concurrently improving service delivery across the organization.
Bringing personal experience to navigating the healthcare system
A seasoned technology executive, Weems brings more than 25 years of healthcare information technology experience to his new position.
Weems’ expertise over the past decade spans senior leadership roles at Cigna and Evernorth, where he led technology innovation efforts across various patient care and pharmacy business segments. During his tenure, Weems championed a digital-first engagement strategy for both virtual and onsite care, streamlining patient experiences across the healthcare spectrum.
He previously held senior leadership positions at Express Scripts and Citi, where he developed and executed strategies that drove technology-driven improvements across complex care environments.
“Soleo Health’s mission to simplify complex care deeply resonates with me as I have firsthand experience in personally navigating the healthcare system due to my daughter’s health challenges,” Weems said. “My new role affords me the chance to help drive meaningful change by leveraging innovative technology solutions that will accelerate our business objectives.”
He expressed confidence that his experience in the specialty pharmacy and direct patient care arenas “will augment Soleo Health’s efforts to better leverage advanced analytics, strengthen our systems and improve the overall patient experience.”
Weems concluded, “We have a distinct chance to build technology platforms that unlock value for all our stakeholders and strengthen our competitive edge — and we’re now making that vision a reality.”
The company has 26 pharmacy locations with national nursing coverage and pharmacy licensure in 50 states and is accredited by URAC, ACHC with Distinction in Rare Disease and Orphan Drugs and The Joint Commission. Soleo also operates more than 30 infusion centers throughout the U.S.
