Masergy Announces AI-Powered ‘Virtual Engineer’ to Enable Autonomous Networking

Masergy's newest product is the "industry’s first digital assistant for network, security, and application optimization."

Masergy AIOps

Masergy, a Plano-based networking services provider, has introduced Masergy AIOps—software which can be thought of as a virtual engineer using artificial intelligence and machine learning.

AIOps is the “industry’s first integrated AI-based, digital assistant for network, security, and application optimization,” according to a statement.

Paul Ruelas, Masergy’s director of network products, told Light Reading that AIOps is designed to cut through the network alert noise and recommendations by only providing improved app performance, bandwidth predictions, and system optimization.

“Fully autonomous networks able to be configured, optimized, and secured with minimal human intervention are the future,” Masergy’s video announcing the service said.

AIOps functions as “your company’s virtual network engineer” embedded into its Intelligent Service Control customer portal, according to a statement.

Here are the key features that AIOps is expected to offer Masergy’s clients:

  • Intelligent analysis and recommendations to improve multi-cloud environments
  • Pattern identifying algorithms for big data
  • Predictive anomaly detection with insights
  • Embedded AI tools in the Intelligent Service Control customer portal
  • Expandable use cases for proactive network, application, and security optimization

“We expect to deliver fully autonomous networking to global enterprises in the next few years, and the launch of Masergy AIOps moves us firmly in the direction of our vision,” Chris MacFarland, Masergy’s executive chairman and CTO, said in a statement.

MacFarland was succeeded last year as Masergy’s chief executive officer by James Parker to take over the role of CTO and executive chairman for Masergy.

Masergy manages software-defined wide area networks (SD-WAN), cloud communications, and managed security solutions. Earlier this year, the Plano-based company introduced a selection of industry-specific bundles combining state-of-art SD-WAN with advanced security offerings.
