Techstars Startup Weekend Fort Worth wants to be the place you launch your business—in only 54 hours.
On March 27-29, the annual event—this year being held in Arlington—will provide an experiential education for technical and non-technical entrepreneurs. Dedicated to fostering new business ideas while strengthening the Dallas-Fort Worth entrepreneurial community, the intent is to bring driven and creative individuals together who can take an idea from concept to execution in a high-pressure environment.
It’s a team effort during the entire weekend, as designers, developers, and marketers alike will collaborate on their next big feat. The event features all the necessary tools to get a startup off the group, with the opportunity to pitch and receive guidance along the way.
Startup Weekend is centered around action, innovation, and education. On Friday, kick-off at UT Arlington will feature a pitch party for innovators (and potential team members) to start swapping concepts.
On Saturday and Sunday, teams get to work. Industry professionals and startup gurus will be on-site to provide business planning, marketing advice, and assistance with creating a prototype.
The event concludes Sunday evening, when attendees bring their A-game to the final pitch in front of local celebrity judges. Past judges have included Victoria Wise, founder of Tanglewood Moms and Madeworthy Media, and Les Kreis, an investor who currently runs two Fort Worth-based funds, Steelhead Capital Management and Bios Partners. It all wraps with a party and celebration of the next phase.
Techstars Startup Weekend is not without success, too: Popular apps such as Rover and Easy Taxi both got their start during the fast-paced weekend.
Though the event is still named Startup Weekend Fort Worth, this year, it will be held at Blackstone LaunchPad powered by Techstars in Arlington. Ticket prices vary on your level of participation, but the full weekend experience includes:
- 7 full meals over the course of the weekend;
- Benefits and discounts from global partners;
- One-on-one time with mentors;
- A new network of developers, designers, and entrepreneurs; and
- Internet and coffee.
Get on the list.
