Körber Opens New Supply Chain Innovation Center Near DFW Airport

Parcel sortation handling equipment may not sound sexy, but it keeps economies soaring by making supply chains hum worldwide. At Körber Business Area Supply Chain's new Innovation Center near DFW Airport, the cutting-edge systems on display are just part of "the first facility of its kind in North America" for the company—marking yet another local expansion.

Körber Business Area Supply Chain—a unit of Germany-based international technology group Körber AG—has opened a new innovation center near DFW Airport in Irving. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Thursday, with over 100 business leaders from some of the world’s leading brands on hand to mark the occasion.

Irving Mayor Rick Stopfer and representatives from Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne’s office also attended the event, getting a tour of the new “cutting-edge” facility and modern conference space.

As the attendees toured the new facility, they explored a “full-scale, end-to-end setup” of Körber’s advanced parcel and postal sortation handling equipment. The company said its solution is “trusted by the nation’s largest multinational supply chain companies to efficiently sort and deliver commercial mail and packages to end customers.”

The new innovation center is strategically located on Körber’s Dallas-area site at 1225 N. 28th Avenue in Irving—so strategic, in fact, that it’s about as close as it could be to the northeastern edge of DFW Airport without perching by a runway.

The company’s site also houses Körber’s engineering, manufacturing, and warehousing teams and facilities, enabling the new innovation center to feature the latest machine hardware and software upgrades developed by the company’s in-house experts.

Körber said this is “the first facility of its kind in North America” for Körber’s Business Area Supply Chain, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion—and “an important step forward” in Körber’s North American growth strategy. Thursday’s opening follows Körber’s recent expansion of its manufacturing capabilities in the Dallas area just last year, when a new panel shop, a “state-of-the-art” warehouse, and an on-site engineering hub were added.

Dr. Helena Garriga, group executive board member and president of Körber’s Business Area Supply Chain, said the new innovation center “plays a pivotal role in accelerating our technological advancements, while empowering our partners across the supply chain industry.”

“This center represents our commitment to innovation in North America, ensuring that Körber remains at the forefront of high-performance solutions,” she added. “It will serve as a cornerstone in advancing our strategy, supporting our growth in the U.S. while remaining the top choice for customers, partners, and talent.”

Ananta Islam, CEO and region president, Parcel Logistics, Americas, for Körber Business Area Supply Chain, called the new innovation center “vital for our operations,” adding that it “represents our commitment to growing in North America.”

“Körber aims to revolutionize the supply chain industry, and the DFW Metroplex is the perfect location for us to accomplish that,” Islam added.

12,000 employees at over 100 locations worldwide

Internationally, Körber has more than 12,000 employees at over 100 locations worldwide, with a goal of turning “entrepreneurial thinking into customer success” as it works “to shape technological change.” Besides Supply Chain, its business areas also include Digital, Pharma, and Technologies.
