Healthcare industry veteran Jamie Potecha has been appointed chief operating officer of Richardson-based Take Command, a health benefits technology company and the largest provider of Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements (ICHRAs) in the country.
Potecha will lead efforts to strengthen the systems and teams that make it easier for employees to navigate and maximize their health benefits, the company said.
Take Command CEO Jack Hooper called Potecha “a natural leader” who brings deep expertise across operations, strategy, and product management.
“He will build upon his track record of scaling systems and assembling high-performing teams to support our growth and innovation,” Hooper said in a statement. “Jamie’s arrival reinforces our commitment to providing our customers and partners with the infrastructure and resources they need to deliver an exceptional employee health insurance experience on a reliable, predictable budget.”
Take Command said that Potecha brings more than 15 years of experience leading healthcare companies, and most recently was head of operations, product strategy, and compliance at Granular Insurance (incubated as a subsidiary of Alphabet’s Verily Life Sciences).
As an early leader at Granular, Potecha helped build scalable processes that contributed to the company’s growth into one of the largest stop-loss insurers. He is known for aligning teams around high-impact strategies and leveraging data and technology to solve complex industry challenges, Take Command said.
Potecha said he was drawn to the company’s leadership in the ICHRA space and its employee-first mindset.
“Take Command stands out in the health insurance market as a first mover and leader in the ICHRA space and an outspoken advocate for employees,” he said. “Our platform ensures every customer and employee receives personalized, high-quality support.
“As Take Command expands its enterprise and benefit consultant partnerships, we will continue to help companies control their healthcare costs while empowering employees to confidently choose the plan that best meets their needs.”
Outlook for ICHRA
Take Command said Potecha’s appointment comes amid a wave of ICHRA momentum, including a bill advancing in Congress that would codify ICHRA into law as CHOICE Arrangements, or Custom Health Option and Individual Care Expense arrangements.
The company said it continues to solidify its leadership in flexible health benefits for organizations ranging from small businesses to large enterprises with thousands of employees. It enhanced the platform’s user experience, optimizing for admin capabilities, easy and intuitive navigation, and personalized plan recommendations.
Founded in 2014 by Jack Hooper—who previously served as a CIA analyst specializing in energy and counterterrorism finance—Take Command says it was the first provider of ICHRAs in the country. More than 7,000 employers now trust its platform to help control healthcare costs while supporting employees in choosing and using their benefits more effectively.
