Fast-Growing Trading App Robinhood Invests in Southlake Expansion, Plans Hires

The pioneering broker of free trades says it will hire hundreds of financial representatives in the region this year. On Monday, Robinhood reported some 4.3 million daily average revenue trades in June 2020, according to CNBC.

Robinhood is joining the growing list of financial institutions hiring in and moving to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Earlier this year, Charles Schwab announced it was moving its headquarters to Westlake after acquiring TD Ameritrade and Fidelity Investments announced plans to hire 300 employees in North Texas.

Fast-growing Robinhood plans to hire hundreds of registered financial representatives in Southlake, Texas, and Tempe, Arizona, in 2020, according to a statement. The Menlo Park, California-headquartered company says it will also hire hundreds of employees across all of its locations, including representatives and support staff.

“We’ve more than doubled our support team since January and we’ll continue to grow our teams to provide timely, helpful responses to our customers. We look forward to expanding in Southlake and Tempe where a wealth of highly skilled and trained registered financial representatives are located,” Alex Mesa, Head of Customer Experience at Robinhood, said in a statement.

In June 2020, Robinhood reported more monthly trades than Charles Schwab and E-Trade combined with 4.3 million daily average revenue trades. The company announced it had 3 million new customer accounts at the beginning of 2020 bringing its total customer base to 10 million and closed two Series F funding rounds, which pushed its valuation to $8.6 billion.

Along with expanding its customer experience teams, Robinhood is continuing to expand its informational and educational resources for customers to learn about the markets and investing, reduce its response times, and build more self-service tools.

Robinhood says it’s thrilled to join the Southlake community and hire talented people to help the company continue to scale its business and support its customers.

“Companies select Southlake for a reason,” Southlake Mayor Laura Hill said in a statement. “They want to be part of this amazing community and all it has to offer. We wish Robinhood the best of luck as they expand their business to include Texas.”
