Dallas-Based Primoris Services Awarded $770M in Solar Projects

The awards are for "the engineering, procurement, and construction of three utility-scale solar facilities with a combined generation capacity of over 1.4 GW located in the Southwest," the publicly traded company announced.

Dallas-based Primoris Services Corporation announced Tuesday that its energy segment has received solar projects with a total estimated value of around $770 million.

The awarded contracts are for “the engineering, procurement, and construction of three utility-scale solar facilities with a combined generation capacity of over 1.4 GW located in the Southwest,” the company announced.

Tom McCormick, the company’s president and CEO, said the projects were awarded “based on the strength of our customer relationships and our proven track record to execute best-in-class utility-scale solar projects.”

“We continue to see repeat customers partner with Primoris for the successful construction of their projects,” McCormick added in a statement. “These awards are further recognition of the exceptional performance by Primoris’ workforce and their capabilities to execute our responsibilities to the satisfaction of our customers.”

Construction to begin in Q3 2023

Primoris said initial construction will begin in the third quarter of 2023 on one of the three projects. The remaining two projects have quite a bit of lead time—they’re not slated to start until the third quarter of 2025.

Founded in 1960 and publicly traded, Primoris is a specialty construction and infrastructure company that provides services to utility, energy, and renewables markets throughout the U.S. and Canada. Primoris has over 10,000 employees globally and is headquartered in The Union Dallas building at 2300 N. Field Street.

New leadership appointments announced earlier this year

In March, Primoris Services announced that Colt Moedl had joined the company as president of its utilities business segment, a role in which he will serve as a strategic leader focused on safety, growth, and execution. The company appointed Chad Haxton as its new chief information officer in February.
