Hexivon, a Dallas-based water technology company, just secured a new investment from Hillwood to advance its groundbreaking method of eliminating “forever chemicals” in water. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Hexivon said it destroys polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), or “forever chemicals,” in water instead of just filtering them out. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, PFAS could harm women’s reproductive health, impair child development, increase the incidence of some cancers, and suppress the immune system, among other health concerns.
Advancing ‘meaningful PFAS treatment solutions across the country’
Hexivon is the result of a merger between Dallas-based Invicta Water, founded in 2023, and North Carolina-based BNNano, founded in 2016. The combined company rebranded as Hexivon last month.
The company says it offers game-changing technology that destroys PFAS, unlike traditional filters that leave behind toxic byproducts. The investment from Hillwood will allow the company to begin to commercialize that technology.
And the partnership with Hillwood brings more than money to the table. Hexivon leaders said that Hillwood’s investment and vast infrastructure experience is invaluable as the company begins to market its system.

“Hillwood brings far more than capital to this relationship,” Hexivon Chairman Kevin Boscamp said in a statement. “Their experience developing complex infrastructure projects, working with public-sector stakeholders and deploying long-term investment capital makes them an ideal strategic partner as we accelerate commercialization of our PFAS destruction technology.”
For Hillwood, the investment adds advanced water technologies to the company’s infrastructure portfolio as utilities, industry and government agencies seek long-term solutions to the PFAS problem.

How it works
Most methods move PFAS around using carbon filters, ion exchange and reverse osmosis to pull PFAS out of water. Those processes leave behind waste that must be hauled off and stored.
Hexivon said its technology works differently. It can operate at any ambient temperature to destroy PFAS at the molecular level on site, breaking the chemicals apart and leaving nothing harmful behind. System deployment takes just a few months.
According to Hexivon’s website, here’s how the system works:
First, it uses modular infrastructure to collect PFAS-contaminated water from a continuous flow source, such as municipal intake lines, industrial discharge or active remediation site.
Second, it uses advanced foam fractionation to strip PFAS from a continuous flow of water and isolates the contaminated concentrate while cleaned water flows on.
Finally, it uses proprietary materials and UV energy to break the carbon-fluorine bond in PFAS, turning them into harmless inorganic mineral components permanently with no toxic byproducts.
Hexivon said it ran a pilot program last year in Cary, North Carolina, where drinking water tested at 40 parts per trillion of PFAS. After Hexivon treatment, no PFAS were detected. The system cleaned 150,000 gallons per day and made zero waste. Independent, EPA-certified labs checked the results, the company said.
Aiming to use the tech in Texas
Demand for PFAS treatment is rising, driven by new federal regulations and increased investment in water projects, Hexivon said. In Texas, House Bill 500 (HB500) sent more than $1 billion to the Texas Water Development Board for water projects, including PFAS cleanup. Across Dallas-Fort Worth, 29 public water systems have exceeded EPA standards for PFAS, highlighting the need for treatment solutions and funding, Hexivon said.
Hillwood and Hexivon said their goal is to accelerate deployment of PFAS destruction systems to provide cleaner water for municipal, industrial and government customers across the United States.
In North Texas and throughout the state, funding is available for municipal water systems through Texas HB500. Funding can help pay for PFAS treatment of community drinking water. The deadline is July 30, and Hexivon said it can help communities apply free of charge. The company connects qualifying DFW water systems with engineering partners to guide the HB500 application.
