Real estate services giant Cushman & Wakefield has promoted Dallas-based Jeremy Edmiston to executive director and U.S. Lead for Build-To-Rent/Single-Family Rent, a role in which he will collaborate with the firm’s Capital Markets and Debt teams to provide unified BTR/SFR end-to-end solutions for the firm’s clients.
“Over the past two years, Jeremy has proven himself a leader who’s passionate about finding solutions for our BTR/SFR clients, building this new sector for our business from the ground up,” Woody Stone, president, Multifamily Asset Services, said in a statement. “His passion drives him to cultivate a culture of care, and he is masterful at connecting people and opportunities for the good of all.”
Edmiston and his team in Dallas oversee a property management portfolio of 9,500 homes and a pipeline of more than 2,500 homes, the firm said. As the newly appointed U.S. lead, Edmiston will leverage his expertise, strong relationships, and the Cushman & Wakefield brand to guide clients through the real estate lifecycle for their BTR/SFR assets.
“We’ve built a distinctive BTR/SFR practice over the past few years that provides end-to-end solutions for investors in the space, including property management, financing and sales,” Edmiston said in a statement. “Investment in BTR/SFR is accelerating and we expect further expansion regarding the deployment of domestic and global institutional capital to surge in coming years. Our scale, expertise, and creativity within the unified verticals will allow us to be a solid partner for this emerging sector.”
‘Living’ in a home vs. ‘owning’ a home
In a D Magazine opinion article written last year, Edmiston wrote that these BTR communities are helping to fill the gap and are changing the definition of the American Dream to “living” in a home versus “owning” a home.
And like the average single-family neighborhood, BTR communities are diverse in demographic segmentations from millennials to active adults, he said in the opinion piece. BTR communities, he said, offer a true neighborhood feel with a focus on 3- and 4-bedroom floorplans, full service for maintenance & landscaping, common amenities, and smart home technology.
“DFW is at the heart of explosive economic growth and the need for dynamic housing will be paramount. BTR communities are changing the landscape and will continue to be in high demand for both consumers and investors for years to come,” Edmiston wrote.
Chicago-based Cushman & Wakefield is a leading global commercial real estate services firm for property owners and occupiers with roughly 52,000 employees in about 400 offices and 60 countries.
In 2022, Cushman & Wakefield reported revenue of $10.1 billion across its core services of property, facilities and project management, leasing, capital markets, and valuation and other services.
