CompTIA: Despite Tech Job Postings Declining, Metro Dallas Holds Onto Its No. 3 Spot
Despite turmoil in the markets and layoffs making headlines, the tech job market remains relatively strong in Dallas, according to a new report.

Across the country, technology companies added 20,300 net new workers in June, marking the 19th consecutive month of growth, according to nonprofit CompTIA’s latest Tech Jobs Report. And among metros, Dallas ranks among the top three for new job postings, though the number of new jobs added month-over-month has declined.

AT&T, SMU Team Up to Turn Data Science Training into Employment Opportunities
Through a new collaboration that combines training with hand-on experience, Dallas-based AT&T aims to create a pipeline for SMU students to become its next employees through the new Data Science Scholars Program. One of its goals is creating more opportunities for women and underrepresented students. “Data science is a team sport,” said Mark Austin, AT&T’s VP for data science. who will help give the students challenges that are "bread-and-butter" to AT&T's own data science group.

U.K. Report: Dallas Is One of the World’s 10 Most Resilient Cities

The 2022 London-based Savills Resilient Cities Index ranks 500 global cities. The Dallas region jumped up 11 spots on the list since 2016, thanks to its many assets and its recovery from the worst of the pandemic. Dallas' highest ranking on the list is in real estate investment, where it placed No. 3, behind only Los Angeles and New York City.

Delta Electronics Taps Plano for Its New R&D and Manufacturing Center

The Taiwan-based global electronics maker is expanding its existing Plano presence with the purchase of a 30-acre plot of land. The acreage is set to become a 400,000-square-foot hub for Delta's research, development, and manufacturing efforts, with the potential for "hundreds" of new jobs. “The Plano complex exemplifies Delta's deeper commitment to the development of a resilient supply chain while also expanding our footprint in the U.S.,” said Kelvin Huang, president of Delta Electronics Americas.

Dallas-Based Enhabit Spins Out of Encompass Health, Begins Trading on NYSE

Enhabit Home Health and Hospice has spun out of its Alabama-based parent, Encompass Health Corp., and is now trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker EHAB.

With more than 10,000 employees in 350 locations across 34 states, Enhabit had over $1 billion in net revenue last year. Now it's eyeing further growth, saying its use of "advanced technology" gives it more efficiency and profitability than competitors in the space.

At BIO International Convention, Companies Eye Relocation to DFW

At the 2022 BIO International Conference in San Diego, representatives from North Texas met "the greatest minds in biotechnology"—and discovered some of them are interested in relocating their companies to DFW.

"We connected with them to explore opportunities and increase investments in the Dallas region,” said a VP with the Dallas Regional Chamber.
