EarthX Film & Music Festival Is Taking Over Oak Cliff This Weekend

The EarthX Film & Music Festival—the only environmental film festival in Texas—will turn Dallas' Oak Cliff neighborhood green October 20-22 at three different venues: the Texas Theater, Arts Mission Oak Cliff, and the Kessler Theater. The 3-day event will offer feature-length documentaries, shorts, live music, food, and storytelling for "a wide range of audiences."

The Piehole Project, a Dallas-based "virtual pie auction," is back for its fourth year October 19-29. Crafted by 27 Dallas chefs, this year's pies have a "Superheroes" theme and will raise money for grants that support continuing education within restaurant and hospitality-focused nonprofits.

A transformed home in Dallas' Old Preston Hollow aims to be the nation’s leading design event of the year. The Decorator Show House is a major fundraiser for Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club in New York, as well as local Dallas charities Dwell with Dignity and The Crystal Charity Ball. The Show House will be open to the public with paid admission for two weeks beginning November 3.

Foundation 45, a local nonprofit that offers free mental health and recovery services to the Dallas-Fort Worth creative community, is hosting the event October 21 in Deep Ellum. The organization was founded by the the former drummer of the band Spector 45 after two of his bandmates committed suicide, and strives to help other creatives on their own struggles with mental health.

If you gaze out of Southwest Airline's newest art-themed aircraft at the landscape gliding by below, some trolls will be taking in the same view—from right beneath your window. ‘Record Submissions’: 47 Texas Women Artists Picked for Vignette Art Fair

Curated this year by Dallas Contemporary's Emily Edwards, the fifth annual Vignette Art Fair will feature talent from across Texas, including a strong Dallas-Fort Worth showing, in November. And 100% of the proceeds go to the artists, nonprofit Texas Vignette says.
