Builders FirstSource Names New EVP & Chief Legal Officer

Alena Brenner will oversee all legal, risk management, government affairs, compliance, corporate social responsibility, and insurance functions for the Irving-based company, and serve as the primary legal advisor to the Builders FirstSource board.

Irving-based Builders FirstSource has named Alena Brenner as EVP, chief legal officer, and corporate secretary, reporting to CEO Peter Jackson.

Brenner will oversee all legal, risk management, government affairs, compliance, corporate social responsibility, and insurance functions for the company and serve as the primary legal advisor to the Builders FirstSource board.

“Alena’s breadth of experience in advising on legal matters related to our industry, litigation and risk management, corporate governance, and the execution of strategic business initiatives will bring significant value to Builders FirstSource,” Jackson said in a statement.

“I’m looking forward to the positive influence her leadership will have on our team and those we serve,” he added.

Brenner has nearly 25 years of legal experience in industries including manufacturing, CPG, and fleet management. Before coming to Builders FirstSource, she served for five years as EVP, general counsel, and corporate secretary for Cornerstone Building Brands. Previously, Brenner held various legal leadership positions with Ryder System, including general counsel of its largest division, Fleet Management Solutions, before advancing to deputy general counsel of Ryder. She also worked for Anheuser-Busch InBev and Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP in New York.

Brenner earned her juris doctor from New York’s Fordham School of Law and has been admitted to the bar in New Jersey and New York. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University.

Builders FirstSource is one of the largest U.S. suppliers of building products, prefabricated components, and value-added services to the professional market segment for new residential construction and repair and remodeling.
