Driving habits, location, and diagnostics are available at the touch of a button for almost any modern vehicle using technology developed by Addison-based Bouncie.

This week, the startup launched its new connected car device that plugs into the on-board diagnostic port on the vehicle.

It’s useful for parents who want to monitor the driving habits of their teenagers in real time. Rapid acceleration, slamming on the brakes, speeding, and route information all show up on the app.

Users can find the vehicle’s location at any time and set up geo-circles so they’ll be notified if the vehicle leaves a certain area.

“The space is very exciting right now and we believe the Bouncie app and device delivers a user experience unrivaled in the market.”

The Bouncie app also sends alerts when there are mechanical or electrical problems with the car. The goal is to manage problems before they get serious.

The app keeps track of renewing insurance policies, vehicle registration and licenses.

Bouncie customers also get free roadside assistance and maintenance reminders. The startup partners with Vehicle Administrative Services to offer the service. Dallas-based VAS has 7.5 million dispatches each year throughout the United States.

The Bouncie device costs $67 each and then there’s a subscription plan of $8 per month for an individual or $20 per month for a family of three.

The subscription price goes up $7 per user from there.

The connected car market has gotten competitive in recent years with other companies trying carve out a niche in the space.
