Dallas-based energy direct seller and provider Ambit Energy is expanding into Canada with Ambit Energy Canada, its second foray into international markets.
The company said that enrollment is available to more than 1.2 million potential residential and small business customers in Alberta via the ATCO Electric and ATCO gas service areas.

“Our first international expansion to Japan has been very successful, and we area proud to support the entrepreneurial spirit in our new international service areas,” co-founder and CEO Jere Thompson Jr. said in a release. Ambit Energy Japan was launched in July.
Ambit provides electricity and natural gas services in deregulated energy markets in 16 U.S. states and Washington, D.C.
Established in 2006, Ambit markets its products through a direct sales channel of more than 400,000 independent consultants.
Ambit Energy was in Inc. Magazine’s list of the fastest-growing private companies for six straight years, and was ranked No. 1 overall in 2010.
Ambit has more than 1.2 million customers, and $1.2 billion in revenue.
It was the largest direct seller of energy in the world for the past four years, according to Direct Selling News.
