Finalists will make their best cases April 22 in the the second Music Entrepreneurship Competition at the University of North Texas’ College of Music Recital Hall.

In the competition, music students create and submit business plans in hopes of winning some of the more than $19,000 in cash prizes that will be awarded for winners to launch or expand student businesses, according to a news release.

“We are hoping our music entrepreneurship competition this year will help launch even more student businesses and help positively impact the North Texas arts and business community.”
Fabiana Claure

All students in the College of Music were eligible to participate, and in a separate grouping, students from other UNT colleges participated if they were on the same team as a student in the College of Music.

“Our competitors last year were able to take an idea and turn it into a viable business proposal that gave them the platform to raise funds and launch their businesses. … We are hoping our music entrepreneurship competition this year will help launch even more student businesses and help positively impact the North Texas arts and business community,” said Fabiana Claure, UNT’s director of career development and entrepreneurship in music, who launched the competition last year.
