New York City-based Burwoodland has a different approach to live events. Instead of promoting a specific music artist, the company produces “themed parties” that give revelers emotionally charged, memorable live experiences. Its DJ-led, owned-brand events have included Emo Night Brooklyn, Gimme Gimme Disco, Broadway Rave, and the emerging indie rock party All Your Friends.
Founded by lifelong best friends Alex Badanes and Ethan Maccoby, Burwoodland produces more than 1,200 shows annually.
Those “experiences” seem to have attracted a big fan in Dallas—billionaire entrepreneur and investor Mark Cuban. On Wednesday, Burwoodland announced that Cuban has made “a significant investment” in the company, whose portfolio of branded events has expanded across the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
An experiential antidote for an ‘AI world’

“It’s time we all got off our asses, left the house, and had fun,” Cuban said in a statement. “Alex and Ethan know how to create amazing memories and experiences that people plan their weeks around. In an AI world, what you do is far more important than what you prompt.”
Burwoodland’s brands have sold more than 1.5 million tickets and cultivated dedicated fan bases across multiple generations and genres, the company said. Its growth has been supported by a group of strategic partners, including industry leaders Izzy Zivkovic (Split Second) and Peter Shapiro (Brooklyn Bowl), as well as Klaf Companies, the investment and advisory platform founded by Justin Kalifowitz. Now you can add Mark Cuban to that list of backers.
Co-Founders Badanes and Maccoby also serve as Burwoodland’s co-CEOs.
“Ethan and I started this company because we know firsthand how powerful it is to find your people through the music you love,” Badanes said in a statement. “That sense of community shaped our lives, and creating spaces where others can feel that connection has always been our purpose. Having the confidence of an investor as respected and accomplished as Mark is a tremendous honor.”
Maccoby said he’s excited for what’s ahead.
“None of this would be possible without our team,” he added. “For a group as small as ours, their creativity, passion, and relentless dedication are the driving force behind everything we do.”
