If you’re like us, you’ve raced through DFW Airport to catch a flight. But now you can do it without having a destination—or even packing.
As part of the year-long 50th anniversary celebration of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, one of the airport’s runways will make way for a “5K on the Runway” race on Saturday, October 5.
Open to anyone 18 or older, the race requires a $75 registration fee and is open to 2,500 “lucky runners.” Participants will make their departure with a commemorative medal and T-shirt marking the historic event.

No spectators, no strollers, no pets—just runners
Since the race is happening inside the third-busiest airport on earth, security will be tight. So no spectators will be allowed, just the registered runners/walkers.
Here are some details, per DFW Airport:
:: Conditioning: While this 5K is designed to be inclusive and welcoming for everyone, regardless of experience level, we encourage participants to ensure they are physically conditioned to complete the course comfortably.
:: Spectators: For safety and security, only those who are registered to participate as a runners/walker will be allowed at the event and there will not be an area for spectators.
:: Strollers: Baby joggers and strollers are not allowed at the event.
:: Age Limit: All participants must be at least 18 years old.
:: Pets: This is not a pet-friendly event, so please do not bring your fur baby.
:: Packet Pickup: Participants must pick up their race packet in advance of the event. Location options are provided during registration and in the email confirmation that you will receive once you register.
:: Arrival Time: The 5K starts promptly at 7:30 a.m.; however, doors open at 6:30 a.m. Please note that only those with a bib will have access to the airfield.
:: Parking: Details on where to park will be posted as soon as they are available, as well as emailed to all registered participants.
:: Refund Policy: Refunds are not allowed for this race. In the event of inclement weather or unforeseen operational circumstances, the 5K may be canceled for the safety of all participants.
